Asin’s appeal to the director!

•May 26, 2008 • Leave a Comment

Looks like Asin does not want to lose profound roles in small movies in the race for stardom in Bollywood. The super smart lady, now busy with her projects in Bollywood, was approached by Gnanrajasekaran – ace director of such movies as Periyar, Bharathy, and Mogamul. Although she could not immediately nod her consent, Asin seems to have requested the director to wait for a year and promised her dates after her commitments with the current projects are over.

Weeks later after this, Gnanarajasekaran has announced his next project recently with debutants titled ‘Mudhal Kadhal’. We do not know as yet whether Gnana has heeded to Asin’s request. However, from all we know now, Mudhal Kadhal does not have Asin in the cast.

The actress recently expressed her desire to do more glamorous roles.

However Sneha has won laurels doing homesly roles in films including ‘Pirivom Sandhippom’, ‘Parthiban Kanavu’, ‘April Madhathil’ among others.

Pandi – Movie Review

pandi movie
Starring: Raghava Lawrence, Sneha, Namitha, Sreeman, Nasser, Saranya
Direction: Raasu Maduravan
Music: Srikanth Deva
Production: Hitesh Jabak
With its simple story woven into the texture of the movie, Pandi proves to be an average entertainer that seems tailor-made for frontbenchers.
Raghava Lawrence and Sreeman, sons of the couple Nasser and Saranya, are two extremes. While Sreeman is the perfect example (note, only example) of an ideal son, Lawrence figures in the dangerously-short-tempered-son-who-is-of-less-value-to-the-family category. For these reasons, his entire family, except mother Saranya, hates him with their whole heart. Meanwhile, Lawrence meets Sneha and falls in love.
A crucial gridlock in the family brings to light Sreeman’s ugly side and he elopes with his father’s hard-earned money saved for his sister’s wedding. Lawrence takes over from this point and shoulders his family’s responsibility. In the process, he moves to Dubai for greener pastures.
Sneha is the show-stealer and announces the arrival of a siren. So much for her good girl next door image. She gyrates hard for the three songs in her designer outfits – of course, scantier than her earlier movies. The songs Kuthu madhippa and the Maasi Maasam remix song (done shoddily, making you wonder what the point was in brutally butchering the lovely original) provide ample scope for Sneha’s dancing skills. Sneha’s sexy dance moves also makes poor Namitha’s item numbers look lackluster.
While Nasser, Saranya, and Sreeman score with their performances, Lawrence looks as if he definitely needs acting lessons. Or is it just that director Raasu Maduravan felt felt a hero need not bend backwards to make himself look credible?
That apart, U.K. Senthilkumar’s camera feasts on Namitha big time and Suresh Urs’ neat editing flows with the movie without interrupting the course of it.

Lingusaamy is getting ready with the next production under his Tirupathi Brothers banner. This movie will be all about youth and enjoyment, say the crew. The movie began rolling shortly and the initial vibes from the unit suggest a full length joy ride.

Revolving around 9 school going youngsters and a girl, the movie is all about the unadulterated revelry of youngsters who do not know the meaning of ‘worry’. Their carefree lives and day to day pranks and enjoyment form the highlight of the movie. Nadiya Moidu plays a key role in the movie, that of their school correspondent and as a psychiatrist. Now this is an interesting knot, but we do no know more about this.

When asked about the movie, Nadiya said that this was one of her dram characters and she was enjoying the experience of shooting with the youngsters. She also added that the young guns were keeping her on her toes with their performances.

The movie is being directed by Roshan Kumar, a former assistant of Priyadarshan and Santhosh Shivan. If that is not enough to establish his credentials, he has also won a national award for his short film Paramapadham. Looking forward to a fun filled ride sponsored by Tirupathi Brothers.
